I know it’s an extremely case by case basis but I want to understand as much about it as possible, so I’m going to ask multiple questions that tier up in specificity.

Feel free to answer until you get to the “Nope.” Question

Assume that I find a trans wizard who is capable of doing the work if the work is possible.

The wizard being trans is optional.

1: vehicle in question came with a 6 speed, and you want to go up to a 10 speed. Possible to get the vehicles computer to recognize all gears and use them appropriately for things like downshifting and manual shifting? How difficult?

2: Aisins. I know they can’t really be reprogrammed to a great degree if at all. Given this, is it possible to swap up if the vehicle had an Aisin originally and you program the engine to accept it, or are you better off going with an Allison equivalent so you can control everything?

3: would the UI on the dash be able to show the correct gear?

4: 6 speed in question was designed exclusively for a diesel torque curve. 10 speed in question was designed exclusively for a gas torque curve. Potential problem here?

5: Pickup in question is a Nissan. Is there going to be some nissan-exclusive fuckery that has to be overcome?

6: Assuming that all of the above is feasible, what incidentals are going to have to be swapped out to accommodate the process? New fluid lines and probably cooler to be sure, new mounts likely. TCM in the case of aisin to aisin? Please list.

7: Vehicle in question is a 17 titan xd with the 5.0, upgrade candidates are the aisin awr10l65 and Allison 10l1000. Are there better candidates?

8: idgaf about your opinion on the truck or the engine.

Thanks in advance.
