I have a Deco Mesh (two mesh devices) wifi network that comes in the house (Xfinity) through coax. The main mesh is located at the modem in my office, and the second is upstairs. There are so many spots in the house that won’t get a stable connection, I’m looking into MOCA.

The main deco currently acts as the router, so there is no standalone router in the loop. The main Deco’s two ethernet ports are used for my computer, and a NAS. I’d like to continue to use the mesh for wifi devices, but use coax -> ethernet in two rooms upstairs and continue to have my computer and NAS (office) use ethernet and not wifi.

One concept I don’t really understand, is that if internet is delivered to the house into my office via coax, how do I run it back into that same coax to be spread throughout the house? Is there some kind of splitter that I need?

Do I need a router, or can I somehow use what I have along with a couple/few MOCA devices? Where in the loop is the best place (not in the house, but in the network layout) to put the mesh?

I’m still a bit confused on how all of this fits together and not sure how to proceed.

Thank you so much.
