Just watching the Spurs vs Villa game now and what I can’t comprehend about VAR is that in the majority of offside cases, its clear that the rail cam they use to make decisions can’t keep up with play, and produces images that are slightly behind the run of play.

But when the majority of offside calls happen inside the box, why can’t they simply rotate the frozen image that the camera provides to make the edge of the penalty box or goal mouth line up straight on their monitors? Just feels like every decision takes ages because they are trying to use multiple angles to make an educated guess and draw lines themselves when they already have a frame of reference with the straight lines that are drawn in bright white paint on the pitch.

Am I being stupid here?
