Good morning, sorry if this post could be the classic post in which someone doesn’t know whether to switch to Linux for gaming but I’m looking for advice. If I put the wrong flair I apologize and will be ready to correct.
Let me start by saying that I already use Linux on my laptop to study (arch) and I use the Steam Deck with Steam OS and I know some basic commands but obviously I can’t know everything so if I say something wrong I ask you to correct me please.
I have a desktop PC with these specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU: ASUS NVidia GeForce RTX 2070
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3600MHz
NVME: 2tb
Microphone: Wave Link: 1 (A challenge to use on linux)
In the past I also dualbooted this PC with Arch and it worked quite well but the situation was still from a few months ago.
My following doubts for now are these:
-
Screenshare for discord, I prefer to use wayland, sometimes I happen to be on a call with my friends and unfortunately I can’t share some windows and I can’t even share the audio and it’s frustrating, I know they have introduced some solutions but I’m not sure which would work better.
-
My microphone, I remember that I have headphones connected to my microphone and that no one could hear the microphone during the call but I could hear the audio of the entire PC and the others speaking.I think I could solve it by connecting the headphones to the motherboard.
-
Some games absolutely don’t work on Linux and I don’t know how to fix it, from what I know Call Of Duty, Kingdom Hearts and certainly others.
-
I’m afraid of losing too much performance on some games but I think it’s not serious.
I’m sure I’m forgetting some points but I can make an edit if necessary.
Let me start by saying that I have always wanted to switch to Linux but that a friend of mine has already done so and is happy with it and also under his advice I am considering changing, Windows has caused me a lot of problems with updates and licenses.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day.
