How much to Pay for podcast advertisement?

I find it hard to get a good view of what would be an acceptable amount to pay to sponsor a podcast episode. Is there a rule of thumb to pay? Like if the episode has a few thousand listeners in the first days, what would be a fair amount to pay for placing an ad in that? Would be great to hear from someone that has done this before.
