You may notice how many people wonder why such a complicated solution was adopted for Ethereum scaling, maybe you’re even one of them. Like, why “rollups” if there are many other options, from Solana-style vertical scaling to block expiry and execution sharding?

i’ve noticed that there are many people in ethereum community who don’t understand why we do rollups instead of sharding or whatever. i tried to make a comprehensive explainer for current ethereum scaling strategy which may be helpful to some people here, and would appreciate any feedback!
