Hi, I have a mercedes gla 250 from 2016 and recently got the low coolant message. I programmed my car to service for top up… Buuut I got scheduled in like 2 weeks and so I M not sure what to do, really any advice would be helpful, here’s what I did so far in order to know if I can still drive until then: I read the manual, and it says to not drive long distances due to risk of overheating but that’s not an issue since winter just started and I make small distances anyway while watching the engine temp in the dash. BTW this most probably triggered the low coolant message also because I read that coolant shrinks in cold weather. I know what type of coolant I have and what I can add exactly to the specification it’s pink 50 50 mix and 326.6 but I can only buy it from gas stations around, so not oem and also I do not know (except that it s pink) what brand of coolant is in the car I read also some guys saying to just add some distilled water to top it off, but is that really better than the value it currently has and driving it like that? From the coolant tank it looks plenty and is just below the mark so I have 3 options and no idea what to do
- Not drive the car at all until service
- Top up myself with coolant or distilled water
- Drive it like this until I get it fixed
