Hi all,
Recently all 3 of my brake lights stopped working at once. I figure all 3 bulbs burning out at the same time is pretty low, so I have attempted to attempt to find the problem elsewhere.
First place I looked was the horn/stop fuse and it was intact and the horn worked as well.
Next was the brake switch. I bought a new one from an auto parts store and it didn’t fix the problem. I thought maybe I got a bad switch, but then I took my multimeter and ran a continuity test as well as a resistance test, both switches seem to work.
Next I figured maybe the wiring in my car was bad. I ran the same continuity and resistance test on the head that is plugged into the switch. The continuity test passed for this as well.
From here I’m thinking the only thing it could be are the bulbs themselves. It’s very unlikely that all 3 would go out at the same time, but I don’t see what else it could be. Is it possible that maybe the middle light went out causing the other two to not work if the middle is out? Fairly new to diagnosing brake light problems on my own so please be patient if I sound ridiculous. 😅
I’m at the end of my wits with trying to fix my brake lights as you can imagine. Any advice provided is really appreciated.
Thank you so much.
