Hello all!
I’m in a new situation and thought to ask some help as a reference. I’m a concert photographer and a band I just shot a concert for asked how much would I charge in order for them to use one of those photos in order to print some shirts.
Some quick facts to help with the perspective:
- I’m not a full time pro by no means, mostly I shoot for a publications (for free) and now I’m trying to work more with bands, usually they just want (and pay) for the use of photos in social media, but not the copyrights like in this case.
- They’re a relatively small band, so we’re not talking huge budgets or major labels or anything like that.
- I don’t know how many they would print (if that even matters) or what kind of profit they are looking to make. I told them a one time payment for the copyright to use the photo for merch and that I’d get back with an estimate.
- They have already paid me for the gig and (low res) photos to use on social media.
Thanks for all the help in advance! The business side of this is very new to me.
