My barista mentioned his brother-in-law went to the US and brought back a Steam Deck with him (we can’t get it from Valve where we are). We were talking about playing Counter Strike and how exciting it was that the new one was available now. He told me that his brother in law went to play it on the Steam Deck and said it didn’t work (or ran poorly, that was unclear). For context his BIL doesn’t follow the tech news too closely and isn’t aware of Linux/SteamOS. He was just miffed that he bought a Valve handheld and Valve’s new game didn’t run very well on it.
I know the CS team probably has their hands full at the moment, but if they could spend a few days on the Linux version and tightening up performance on lower end PCs like the Deck, that would help my barista’s brother in law specifically. It should also stop him from further shit-talking retelling his poor experience with the Steam Deck, which should help them with their word of mouth.
