Why does my concealer look better after I’ve wiped it off with a makeup wipe mid-makeup after setting etc, and then reapplied eye cream, and concealer?

Why does my concealer look better after I’ve wiped it off with a makeup wipe mid-makeup after setting etc, and then reapplied eye cream, and concealer?

It makes no sense! The first time round might’ve taken me 10mins! After I wipe it off, do it again quicker, and it looks better?!
