Hello everyone. Long time lurker. First post in this sub.

I have 2 2017 4K boxes and just got a 2022 4K box. I’m running into an issue on two of the three TVs where Dolby Vision and HDR modes look blown out on the Home Screen. The default opinion here is to set it to SDR with match Range and Frame Rate set to ON.

The problem I’m running into, are apps that don’t support the feature. Apps like YouTube TV, Peacock, Fox Sports, Max, etc… What’s the general consensus of how to deal with this? Turn on HDR with a blown out Home Screen in order to watch football, then turn it off when done? Seems like a less than stellar setup.

My setups are:

58” Samsung TU700D, blown out HDR, no DV

55” Vizio M55-F0, displays everything perfectly

43” Vizio M43Q6-J04, blown out HDR and DV

Thanks in advance.

Just to confirm your recommendation: when you say “matching on” do you mean “match dynamic range” and “match frame rate” set to on? And then format should be “4K SDR”?

I primarily have the latest higher end Samsung TVs last 2 years so I’m sure they support everything and I am using proper 4k HDMI cables. I primarily will use YouTube TV and AppleTV+ . I just want to make sure I am using the recommended settings (at least as a starting point).
