Hello all,
First time poster here, long time prowler.
I am building a new high-end gaming rig based on the 14900k (coming from two systems, a 5800x and a 10700k). Very experienced with building systems and have been for the last 20 years.
I have seen a ton of posting/videos on DDR5 and issues with Raptor Lake, both with XMP and with more than two dimms populated. It seems the consensus is to only populate two dimms and slowly increment XMP speeds until the system can’t pass a sustained mem test.
That said, I love the look of having all four dimms populated, and my plan was to populate 4x16gb of Corsair Titanium 7200MT/s memory (two sets of this one, specifically). It seems like everyone’s issues have been experienced on 13th gen Raptor Lake, but I haven’t seen much on this topic for Meteor Lake (14th gen).
My questions are, for anyone has had hands-on experience with attempting to get quad dimms working on Raptor Lake: 1) What was your methodology behind trying to get it working? and… 2) Were you successful? If not, what did you end up settling on?
Also, please let me know if anyone has been able to get four dimms functional on 14th gen, and what the specs of the memory you are using.
Obviously when the system is built this week, I’ll make a post of the full build (current value is about ~$6300).
Thanks in advance!
edit: I searched on the PCMR sub and on here for posts within the last two years to see if anything was on this topic specifically with no real success, other than the cases noted above.
