I’ve seen so many posts and takes about what should have been done / what should be done going forward. For example:

  • They should have given the two empty spots to Challenger teams
  • They should have merged with CBLoL or *insert minor region here*
  • We should only have 8 teams

etc etc.

My question is this. Before the two teams decided to leave, the revenue share was 1/10 if the revenue pool for each team right? Why not just keep it that way? This would leave 20% of the revenue share open. Why would we do this? So that you can hold two yearly tournaments during off season, after worlds. One for Challenger and one for CBLoL. The winner of each tournament gets to move into a house that Ri0t owns (i’m sure they could buy two houses to be used as team houses for the floating two teams). The 20% revenue share that was left over, can go to the two teams that win as long as they are using it to relocate and work on visas etc. The other thing is those teams can look at short sponsers, with like 1 year deals.

This is awesome because it would help grow and benefit an academy system that got gutted. And it also helps to give CBLoL teams more screentime and chances at international competition. Also I think that both teams that made it through the tournament and played in the LCS that year, should get a first round buy on their tournaments for the next year. This way they have an advantage, compiled with LCS time and potentially international stage time (pending how well the teams play). But not too much of an advantage that another team cant overtake them if they really are the better team.

I really think this could be a valid option, but I havent seen a single person suggest it. Am I just missing something here? I know a lot of the reason floating teams from challenger wouldnt have worked is the infrastructure costs and such, but this could work if we reserve the revenue share from the two teams that left no?

I think players are bringing up CBLoL because they’re more familiar with it, it’s very unlikely the two regions will merge. If there was going to be a merge it probably would be with LLA since they also have 8 teams and aren’t doing as well as CBLoL
