I don’t post a whole lot of Reddit. But after having been a Cowboys fan for the past few decades you learn a few things. One of which is that we are always under a microscope. I don’t necessarily mind that because I’ve found most of our fans who are passionate tend to be a bit more realistic and nuanced, well at least some of them.

Which is what nothing surrounding this current Eagles team is receiving, nuanced takes. It’s Jalen is MVP because wins. Last night I found myself becoming so frustrated. They are a great team, and Jalen is a lower end top 10 Qb, in my opinion. However, this year their 4th quarter luck is astronomical. I’ve never seen a team have so many lucky bounces in every conceivable way. The hooked 60 yarder going in encapsulates it perfectly. Their mistakes are covered up somehow someway. Part of that is resilience and team spirit which they are the best in the league for.

But too fans are prisoners of the moment it’s all Jalen and it’s tiring. Him leading in MVP voting currently not only disrespects the legitimacy of this being a team sport but also himself from last year. The confirmation bias is at crazy levels and just seems very simplistic. I don’t know. Just a grumpy Cowboys fan I guess.

I just turned 30 so yes I’m frustrated by never getting to experience a SB win that wasn’t when I was an infant, in large part due to every single playoff loss that wasn’t Romo against the Vikings and maybe the Rams a few years ago ended in heartbreak or controversy. Almost always we were in it until the end of the game at least.

That’s the NFL, refs and luck are a part of it. It’s why it’s so addicting. The luck pendulum does swing alongside the talent acquisition, team building, and lastly streaks at the end of the year and post season. You can’t tell me that the Eagles don’t have a little bit more on their side than the other quality teams. Chiefs lead the league in drops. Yet their most drops in a game was last week. Nothing to do with Eagles play. Anyone could tell you only losing 1-2 games per season has some luck involved. The game is too dynamic. Takes nothing away from the Eagles success but is the difference from them being a top team at 10-1 as opposed to 8-3. Eventually the bad bounces will catch up to them. Just ideally it will be before our rematch but that’s looking improbable.

I never said Jalen sucked nor that the Eagles are a good team. I just believe they are more a well rounded team, in spite of shaky secondary play, then Jalen is an MVP candidate. That really is the core of my frustration. Cowboys QBs mainly the ones I’ve watched Dak and Romo have always been unfairly maligned. I get it, we’re Americas Team.

Still when I think of MVP QB play I think of Manning on the Broncos, Mahomes first season. Rodgers a few years ago. Maybe even Jalen last year. But this year? I refuse to believe anyone deep down believes he’s the league MVP. No QB this year is. The award has always been skewed but it’s becoming lazy and right now it seems that it’s an apology to him for not getting last year because he got hurt. Tough. Best ability is availability. Mahomes had a better year than him too. It’s a team sport, and I hate the QB wins discussion. If you said the Eagles are the best team I honestly can’t argue. But Jalen being the MVP I’m sorry stat padding your Rush TDS from Brotherly Shove due to having the most powerful line isn’t that impressive to me.
