    Many Jews see a lack of empathy for the Israelis killed during the early morning massacre and for the relatives of the hostages - about 30 of whom are children - who are suspended in an agonising limbo.

    This isn’t true in my experience. Pretty much everyone thinks it was an absolutely disgusting act. I haven’t really seen anyone defend or justify it.

    Saying Israel has gone too far in retaliation against civilians is not defending hamas in any way.

    Both of these acts are awful.
