Why CHI does the trade?
- Get Huerter and 2 firsts to replace Lavine.
- Stay under the luxury tax and get salary cap relief by clearing $12 million off books after this year.
Why SAC does the trade?
- Get OG.
- Only lose 2 firsts with the latest first being 2028 and a second in terms of draft capital.
- Keep Harrison Barnes to come off the bench.
Why TOR does the trade?
- Get All-Star caliber SG who can score and shoot efficiently on a multiyear contract in Zach Lavine.
- Remove the risk of losing OG for nothing in FA while staying competitive.
- Get Davion who is on a rookie contract still so they will have team-control for the foreseeable future.
- Get a potentially high 2025 second round pick via POR which could be almost as good as a late first.
- Do not trade any of their draft capital for Lavine.
- Stay under the luxury tax this year.
I worry about Siakam’s 3P shooting and its effect on spacing. The Kings would also have to trade more players/picks for Siakam as well to match salary and his value as an All-NBA player.
One theoretical trade is Davion, Huerter, and Barnes + pick(s) for Siakam.
