Someone mentioned a rumor on Reddit about the possibility of the Ultra having the SD Card returning. Anyone have the Vegas odds on that, because that would be the most exciting news a Samsung release would have had in years.
If it’s got AI, it means I can feel even better about saving some money and getting an S23 when I finally replace my current phone.
You just made me put on my tinfoil hat. Because AI uses so much RAM and resources, and all these OS’s are implementing them on-device, this would be the ideal way to slow down all previous generation devices and force customers to buy new ones! Heck, even if they do onboard the AI software efficiently, they’d probably use it as the perfect excuse to slow them down anyway. Imagine how big the OneUI 7.0 update with AI would be. 30GB of internal storage and occupying 90% of RAM at all times, perhaps?
/Tinfoil rant
I wasn’t even thinking about the performance/efficiency impact! That’s a good point. For me, I like me phone to do what I want it to do. I didn’t ask for AI. I don’t need it. I actually don’t even want it - I really don’t want my devices to ‘think’. What I want is fast, efficient, and predictable execution of what I tell it to do. (by predictable, I mean that I don’t want it to anticipate my needs or surprise me - I want a nice, responsive and dumb device with a great display, a good camera, good connectivity, and a good battery.
I am going to get this phone due to my carriers deals but, S23 battery has gotten significantly worse over the course of a year. Software updates have absolutely killed it, it’s about 1pm and I’m halfway through my battery, which isn’t as good as I used to get.
For those who want a good chip the 8 Gen 2 is the best I have ever used.
