Three weeks ago, I created a post in this sub that Sam Howell is potential the ideas replacement for Anthony Richardson potential fantasy up, for a QB that still available on the waiver wire in most league. Let’s look at his performance since:

  • Howell stands at QB5 in overall fantasy points.
  • With passing yards, he’s second only to Tua with 2,471yds.
  • His adjusted completion percentage is 77%, ranked 10th among QBs.
  • The offensive line has allowed significant pressure, with a 27.4% rate, the 2nd highest in the league.
  • Howell has thrown 14 TDs, tying for the 7th most in the league.
  • Pro Football Focus credits him with the most ‘big-time throws’ over 20 yards, tallying 18 this season.
  • He’s also thrown 9 interceptions, which aligns him with quarterbacks like Allen, Jones, and Garoppolo.

For a broader perspective:

  • Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are tied for the 2nd most interceptions with 8.
  • Tua has 7 interceptions.
  • His interceptions are inline with Allen, Hurts, Mahomes, and Tua who are the only QBs with more fantasy points than Howell after Week 9.

This data suggests Howell’s interceptions are not as bad as many make them out to be. With these stats in mind, should Howell be a regular starter in fantasy teams, or just a streaming option? And, looking ahead, which quarterbacks would you prefer over him for the rest of the season?

I’m a homer and the Cowoboys are my team. And Dak has been very good for fantasy for some years now. But look at it this way, Howell is currently QB3 in fantasy, and while Dak didn’t play much of the 4th quarter because they were ahead by a considerable amount heading into the 4th. I don’t think that’s an issue you have to run into with Howell this season, who is also leading the league in passing yards at the end of week 10.
