After watching that raptors game, it is abundantly clear how trash Maxi and Powell are on the defensive end. Especially when it comes to rebounds and interior defense. Maxi may be out of the league if it wasn’t for the Mavericks giving him an extension. I mean the dude has clearly regressed from even 2 years ago and it is not because of his dislocated pinky toe. Maxi has been slow on rotations and fouls because he cant keep up with his defender since the start of the season.
The most annoying part of Maxi’s game is that he does not even take WIDE OPEN THREES. I mean he can be 20 feet open and he still passing up the damn shot. This makes our players having to bail him out because he does a dumb pass in the lane that can be easily stolen.
Powell may be decent on the offensive end, but we all know Powell is undersized and shouldnt even be on the floor if the opponent’s game plan is to attack the paint. It is easy money for them when they see Powell in the interior.
We have to get rid of these two and get a decent backup big and im not talking about anybody expensive just someone who can rebound and box out(the basics) because those two are basically deer in headlights out there.
I don’t think people are mad because we lost this game.
People are mad if we get killed by lack of length, size and presence.
Same issues as last season, stuff we thought we left behind us. Powell playing 25 minutes or more, Maxi afraid and injured and other small-ball BS…
I don’t overreact after each win/loss here, but I have empathy for those who do in this situation - we just need bigger bodies and this is something that hustle/effort cannot fix.

But we need upgrades off the bench - Drummond for example, who is a big body presence just in case we have injuries or times we cannot afford to go small.
