Its just a funny coincidence that you recommend zorin and your username is artyom, like the creator of zorin. No need to take everything serious :p

Zorin creator’s name is also artyom… Coincidence 🤔🤔

Desktop Enivorements > distro (when it comes to beginners)
Can’t go wrong with any user friendly distro like zorin, mint, fedora, pop_os, anduin, debian, bodhi… the list goes on and on.
Focus on desktop environment, do you like Kde Plasma, Gnome, Cinnamon or even Cosmic?
If u truly want something different from winbloat go the tiling window manager route. Arch + Hyprland. Garuda or Cachy are both nice for a more beginner friendly arch experience(not really recommended for beginners, but i read in of your other comments that u want something more different from Windows)

Yeah true that mint is the default. But if you look up any beginner distro recommendation then zorin is often also mentioned. Zorin 18 released last week so it’s a getting a bit more mentions then normal. But look up any beginner distro video or article and it’s always mint and zorin. Zorin has been around since 2009

Thats awesome, personally never tried it. But it keeps popping up in “hard distros” discussions.
Man all these install scripts are making every distro too accessible 🤣🤣 /s
Only way too stay cool now is to switch to hannah montana os, or freebsd lol

“Why are people promoting beginner friendly distros on a post about reasons to switch?”
U are right, lets promote Nix and Gentoo here

Wine and bottles has been mentioned. Let me also throw Winboat at you… winboat.app

correct, if u want to take the moral highground u can’t be contradicting urself. Im not here to convince anyone, besides why would i document my whole introspection here? Maybe my opinion has changed after engaging on this post. That’s what internet forums are for, u say stupid stuff then someone corrects u and u can adjust your views. No need to type it out, unless u want to be my therapist
United by the penguin, divided by distros

No i dont and just because my opinions are stupid that shouldn’t mean that you can be hypocritical. I am stupid and know it, but you pointing out blame and doing it yourself is just funny

Grouping a whole folk as hitlerite, that’s quite hypocritical good sir

UX/UI. To be specific input forms. Had to get past a captcha for an appointment. I have no idea how the site handled captchas but couldn’t get past it. No indications if it had to be capitalized, with or without spaces etc… Just gave up after trying for a while.

we can agree on the suicide rate being too high :p, these bleak winters certainly don’t help up here in the north

Take the train to Brussel and let me know how you find it

Possibly, no one is immune to propaganda. And I might be completely off by linking it to increase in migrations etc. But it’s getting less appealing to be walking around alone at night in the major European Cities.

“Us adults” lol. Look at crime statistics. A certain minority causes a disproportionate amount of the crimes. Look I’m not white myself, and not all immigrants are bad. But lately EU has had a lot of problems because of refugees and migration. Housing shortages, increase in crime. It isn’t just black and white. There is more nuance to it than too far right and being racist, and being too far left and ignoring that there are problems caused.
As for Kurt I only know him walking around in favelas hahah, so whoops not the best example. But his videos do show the growing problems in cities
Mint is loved for a reason! One user takes a left turn, the other right. Like i said focus on desktop environments :)
Most browsers push AI, I’ve never touched their crypto stuff in years of use, so easy to toggle off. Honestly I like the concept of what they tried to do with ads and crypto. It’s a model that atleast pays back the user, al other ads are just leeching off your data without giving anything back.
Yah okay that last one I can’t defend 🙄. CEO’s certainly should shut their mouths more nowadays
Familiarity is very important for onboarding users. You’d be surprised how easy people give up because something is different. Kde Plasma is great, I run it myself, but information overload and flexibility is more likely to deter the average pc user than to win them over.
