I found the level of security required for basic functionality to be a hindrance. For small personal projects it felt like squashing a fly with a sledgehammer. A remote repo that is too much hassle to use is functionally the same as not using one.
plus gitlab and sourcehut are so much better
I think I’ll just edit out a mention of the platform I moved to. I wasn’t advocating for it. To be a bit more constructive - what makes those alternatives better?
It’s one of several reasons I moved to another platform. The amount of faff wasn’t worth it for the few projects I fiddle with.
The “best” things rather than “good” things? That’s a bar too low for even Hermes to limbo under.

It’s so strange to me that so many of these got made. Anyone could see they were going to be terrible and die on their arses and yet they continued to plough time and talent into them. What a waste of everyone’s time.

I finally lost patience with almost every interaction on Reddit becoming a knife fight. No other platform I use(d) is like that. I’d post something, reply to something, or whatever and invariably someone would be needlessly aggressive and hostile. Any attempts to engage on anything beyond a surface level were either mocked or misunderstood (“it’s not that deep bro” - get out of here with that attitude). In general it was socially exhausting and I was tired of it.
I’ve not found that’s the case here, so this is what I use instead.
Whilst I don’t care about game discs, the notion of a high end media device without a UHD drive seems nuts to me.

I’m somewhat tickled by the snippets of adverts I’ve seen for both Samsung and Apple’s new phones that mention “AI”. None of what I’ve seen has actually explained why it’s a selling point. Classic cart before the horse stuff.
Ultimately I’m not the target market for flagship phones as the price has spiraled out of control to the point where I cannot fathom how it can be justified for such a mundane device.
On launch 2042 was complete crap but I had some fun with it two years ago. I particularly liked being able to swap out my weapon attachments on the fly.
If memory serves, the charity hires GDQ for a flat fee. They’ve already been paid for the event and so donations that come in go straight to the charity. PCF for the winter event, MSF for the summer one.
