I thought zed was just a slop focused Code fork like Cursor?
I have massive respect for the guy. He did so much for the open source community. But for some reason everything he says is interpreted as inarguable truth by most tech guys.
For example his opinions on AI are pure trash and bootlickery. Which is fine anyone can think anything. We just have to think for ourselves a little.

And also when you don’t use AI, can you disable all AI UI features.
Atleast C is easy to understand which makes it easier to find and fix vulnerabilities. C++ feels like it’s duct tape holding it together.

C++ is an awful language overall.

Linus is just some guy with good programming skills and not an authority over anything tech.

There aren’t any good text editors in the wild. VSCode is awful apart from extension support. Kate is close to being perfect but lack of extensions are pulling it back. Vim, Helix, Emacs, NeoVim are all flex toys.nvm just tried zed with AI disabled -

1911·10 days agoDoes not matter how he uses AI. It is a fundamentally unethical technology. Environmental damage, job losses, stealing work from open source programmers and artists, poisoning the young generations mind etc.
I don’t give a fuck how Linus uses AI. Linux was here before LLMs were a thing and it can continue to be like this. Linus chose the easy way and disregarded every single negative aspect of it and decided to call it 'just a tool". The exact same excuse every single cuckcoder uses btw.
Can we as the tech community stop dick riding Linus and accept that he sold out to big tech?
I bet Linus is happy since AI is a “great” tool and not using it is stupid amiright?
Linux is definitely going to that direction but is not yet there. I have no idea why Linus is supporting this god awful tool so much. I guess promoting a programmer as an indisputable true opinion source was wrong. He became a bootlicker for big tech at the end. Such a shame.
He is bootlicking hard recently. I used to look up to the guy as the guy I want to be. Nowadays I despise him.
The amount of bootlicking Linus has been doing recently is insane. I expected this bs from anyone but him. Such a sad reality we are living in.
Advertisements are not bad. We have to regulate them though. If you do not want advertisements then every single service you use would be paid.
