I think we haven’t seen anything other than the shape of the thing so it sounds pretty alarmist. Remember all the sensors packed into Joycons that nobody uses anymore? It enabled stuff like Nintendo Labo and other neat toys. We’ve only seen that the new Joycons have an optical sensor so far. Who knows what else is there and how is it going to get used.

Looks like Nintendo quickly whipped out a video that shows only the things that leaked so far. Way more interested in the announced Nintendo Direct where we’ll see actual new stuff probably.

a) social media should not be anonymous

I believe anonymous social media can work but only up to a certain size. Current system opens up societies to fabricated influence campaigns by the oligarchs, domestic and foreign state agencies, all kinds of organised whackos and just regular assholes with zero accountability. Whole setup is dying from a thousand cuts and at current going rate it doesn’t have much time left.

I was disappointed by how the resolution was taken out of the players’ hands though.

I’m still in Egypt but that’s not only disappointing but also flat out surprising given how interactive the game is so far.

Playing SMTV on Switch is such a drag performance-wise you need to do yourself a favour and play it on some other platform anyway. Never buy base version of Atlus games is the lesson from last couple of releases.

Humour is a sum of tragedy and time.

It’s up to Nintendo to determine how to run their business best. Nobody needs luxury toys to live. But I will argue that you wouldn’t like Nintendo that releases their games on PC and sells them for $20 5 months after release.

Everything Nintendo does serves philosophy of valuing own work. Nintendo that doesn’t need to figure out how to do cool things with cheap hardware isn’t the same Nintendo that won’t release a new entry in their prestigious franchises unless there’s new kind of gameplay. Nintendo that doesn’t go after pirates has to look for other sources of revenue and people generally don’t like microtransactions and ads. I could go on but I think Nintendo is the only console manufacturer ready to weather upcoming storm in the industry.

They seem to be mostly listening to their paying consumers, which seems reasonable as they are a high-end toy-making business that intends to continue making money.

Aren’t those Snapdragon chips used in Windows ARM computers as well? Also, M-series chips are based off A-series so they’re not that different really.
