Hello, I’m going to be buying a Lenovo 2in1 laptop soon. I had my sights set on the Yoga 7 initially, but it’s not available in the 14" version with AMD Ryzen, only Intel. A 16" 2in1 would just be too big for me.

I was wondering if anyone could help me decide between getting the Yoga 7 (14") with Intel i7-1355U, or the Yoga 6 (13.3") with AMD Ryzen 7730U.

I plan on using the laptop mainly for media consumption/streaming, doing art as a hobby (using the tablet mode + pen), and casual gaming. I’m looking for something with decent battery life that won’t overheat too much, that will handle games well enough to be functional.

I mostly play games like Don’t Starve (+ Together), Minecraft, Slime Rancher, and Stardew Valley. I plan on trying to play games like Destiny 2, Monster Hunter, Little Nightmares, and Detroit Become Human.

I don’t know much about the differences between AMD and Intel but I have generally been told that overall AMD is better for battery life and gaming, and that Intel is better for productivity tasks, but some people have challenged that notion as well.

Is it worth going with the Yoga 6 purely for the AMD Ryzen processor, or would the Yoga 7 still meet my needs as my first choice laptop even though it would be Intel?

Both the laptops are too weak for some of the games you will be trying (but they should adequate for the ones you already play).

The Intel Yoga has a sharper and slightly brighter display however, so if that matters, then you can pick it (but when playing games you’ll need to lower the game resolution). Otherwise, go for AMD, there aren’t any other advantages in the Intel laptop.
