What apps are you doing for Thanksgiving?

We’re doing cheese plate and a spinach dip. Trying not to fill up before the 4pm mealtime.

It took me eight years, three grandkids, and one house before I had enough pull to move mealtime from 1pm. I was at their house with the tv muted and he came over at kickoff and ‘let’s eat!’

I do a cheeseball. Lately I’ve been molding it into a snowman or football or something. Us kids loved it back in the day and my kids and their cousins like it now. I use a modified version of my aunt’s old recipe:

1-1 ratio on cream cheese and shredded sharp cheddar. I think cream cheese comes in 6oz bars and shredded cheese comes in a 12oz bag, so put in 2 cream cheese bars for a huge cheeseball and the whole bag, or 1 bar and half the bag of sharp cheddar for a regular size ball.

Add 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce. Optionally, I like to add a 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder (actual garlic powder, not that granulated shit).

If you’re using a mixer, just dump it all into the mixing bowl and turn it on. If you don’t have a mixer to use, I find the best option is to throw it into a big bowl and mash it together by hand. It doesn’t take long.

Mold it into any festive shape you like or just make a ball. When I made a snowman out of it the one time I used raisins for the face, cut a sliver of carrot for the nose and used pretzels for the arms. You could make a Bubbles logo. Get creative.

My aunt used to dust the outside with crushed pecans but my brother and I always thought the nuts were ass so I leave it bald.

Serve on a plate with Ritz crackers to spread it on. It’s good by a veggie tray too.

This is a good appetizer for you guys who don’t know anything about cooking. It’s easy, lots of room to be creative and the resulting cheese spread is fire, dawg.
