My son loves this game and I’ve played it a little bit in the past but haven’t ever got past a basic house with a basic mine.

He plays on Switch and earlier this week I purchased it on PS5 so we can finally play in the same world together.

He seems to know how everything operates so I want to have a bit of fun and surprise him. When it comes to mining, what are some cool ways to mix things up or use some items he may not be familiar with?

For example, instead of a basic stepped mine, I’ve been breaking it up with huge underground rooms with elaborate staircases. At one point, I built a smaller tunnel that ran parallel to the main tunnel so I could “pop out” and surprise him when we were descending the mine.

I’m thinking of building a huge underground stone maze as a bit of fun.

What are some ways to show him I’m not an ignorant old Minecraft noob?!

My 4 kids (7-21) all play Minecraft. When the oldest was young, I got into making redstone-based contraptions for him. As time has gone by I make a lot of automatic farms on servers we play on together.

I like this. He’s seen a lot of videos on YouTube with people using redstone but can’t get his head around it. Might be a good way to blow his mind
