Sup Heat nation,

Although this current winning streak has been a treat to watch, it has influenced me to consider the future success of the team. How could this team improve? What does it lack? How can they add the modifications to the roster without trades or overspending or depleting the limited assets they have? The team’s success in the postseason and development of young guys has led me to believe and trust their judgment. For that reason this is what I see the team doing:

  1. Drafting a big point guard and giving Kyle Lowry a veteran extension.

  2. Simplifying Tyler’s Role to maximize his strengths.

  3. Giving Haywood Highsmith an extension.

  4. Developing Jovic to be Bam’s backup.

I think that this team is literally one small piece away from winning the whole thing. It’s the point guard spot and back up center position. Give Jovic one more developmental year. Draft the point guard of the future and they are right there.

Extending Highsmith is obvious. The 4 spot has been a revolving door for this franchise since the Jimmy era started, this is an opportunity to lock in the type of defensive stretch 4 we need in that spot.

Point Guard position needs to be addressed. It would be interesting if the Skyforce/Heat development staff can make something out of RJ Hampton. I mean he was a late first round pick PG, the chances that we draft better than that is slim. He chose to accept a 2-way to develop with us, it would be cool if that becomes something.

Backup 5 is the other spot that is constantly lacking for us. I’d rather develop a PG and draft a Center than draft a PG and develop a Center. Guards grow on trees, skilled big men do not.
