Dennis Dixon, Landry Jones, Josh Dobbs, Mason Rudolph. All QBs drafted under Tomlin. Dixon and Jones were complete trash. Mason Rudolph started hot but made no developments in his game, arguably went backwards. Josh Dobbs having an all-time Cinderella story as soon as he gets away from the Steelers.
Tomlin and all of his staffing choices just simply might be terrible at developing QBs. He was handed Big Ben, never forget that. We could draft someone to replace Pickett next year, but I have a feeling we’ll be looking at the same outcome we’re seeing now. He’s just not capable of getting a QB to understand the game at the NFL level.
We never developed scrubs who were supposed to be lifetime backups to the point where they could take Ben’s job?
Kenny is the only QB he’s really had the chance to develop. Maybe you can count Mason.
It’s true that they both have played poorly. But in both cases, I think the Steelers won more games than they had a right to win given the talent under center.
