I was recently listening to The Real Ones with Logan and Raja of the Ringer network and they were talking about Zach Lavine landing spots. Both this pod and The Lowe Post insinuated that we would be better off trading Herro for Zach Lavine and that we would have to throw in picks.

Wtf? What has Zach ever done in his career except have terrible knee issues? This year, Herro has higher points, rebounds and assists per game. Meanwhile he shoots better from inside and outside, the latter by a large margin. I felt Lavine was really timid in our last game against the Bulls and Herro is usually an absolute firecracker. If anything, I love his demeanor and attitude.

Logan and Raja were saying that Kyrie never did anything before or since Lebron which I get and similarly, Bosh and Love were both big stat guys without a ton of post season experience before teaming with Lebron. All three of those guys would still be HOFers without Lebron. I don’t think Zach is even close to the HOF and he should be having his best years. He’s not putting up numbers on a team that desperately needs him to be great. Meanwhile, we have more distributed scoring and Herro is scoring more, much more efficiently.

I’m not a Herro stan at all. He has defensive issues and finishing issues that make me love him much more as a second unit, microwave type player, like Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams or Jordan Clarkson. But Lavine may be an even worse defender. While I thought Herro had some finishing issues, he actually has a higher career FG% right around the rim than Lavine and is significantly better from 3-10 feet out (.445 to .345).

I often think that just because some guys jump higher, they get this crazy media boost. Like, we’ve seen you in dunk contests, so you must be much better than player X. Is that the case here? Is there any argument to be made that Zach is actually better? I feel like we’d be getting fleeced trading them straight up and Lowe and Bell think we should give up picks as well? That’s so dumb.

Think of the most clutch Bulls plays of the past 2-3 years and they are all Derozan.

I can’t with this Lavine talk and the Herro slander.
