I’ve never owned an EV

I have 140 mile drive/day (no traffic) for a new job, which EV is best? Will last the longest? Most reliable? It’ll be about 33k miles/year is there any EV known to handle that kind of commutefor 5 years?

I will save on oil change, but is there any hidden costs that aren’t obvious? Are tires more expensive? Anything I should know about EVs in general before I make the purchase? Insane car insurance costs or repair costs for accidents?

I used to have a very similar commute (120 miles round trip, mostly highway, little traffic) and I did it in a Model 3 for years. First thing I will say is that the Tesla was much better than the Volt I replaced with it. The biggest advantage for the long trips is the driver assist, whether Autopilot or whatever. Don’t skip that in whatever car you choose.

Now, would I recommend the Model 3? Over any ICE car, probably. Over another EV? Bluntly, not really. The NVH on my commute (on crappy highways) was unpleasant after a while. I now live in a new city and have a 70 mile round trip commute but with traffic (so same time, just slower) so less distance but more noise and BS, and when the Tesla needed to be replaced I went with the BMW i4 instead.
