Something small I’ve noticed about Nurk and how the competition plays him the last two games against the Jazz. They know when he gets the ball below the rim, his first instinct is to pass it out versus finish - for good reason, that’s in his scouting report in permanent marker. Even when he is backing down someone, it’s usually to get someone else open and not including dropping the ball (literally), isn’t double teamed that much.

However because of the reduced pressure, it gives him a bit more opportunity to surprise and go for the bucket since they are rightfully more worried about Booker or KD or Allen or EG. Nurk hit 61% FG% in that series on decent volume for his role (11/18) against a well known quantity in Markkanen.

No, I don’t think he’s turned over a new leaf and will become this elite finisher. He’s absolutely mid, which is not a bad thing. Mid is better than bad. But it’s nice seeing improvement with Booker and KD on the court. Add Beal to the mix and his secondary skills will become even more deadly (relatively).
