Folks on this sub seem to get a little heated after every loss or below-average performance so I wanted to put something in perspective. The 1986 Celtics (a better team than the 2024 Cs in my opinion) lost 15 games on the season.

  1. A 4 point loss to the below .500 Nets in the first game of the season. Bird, DJ, and Ainge shot like shit
  2. A 2 point loss to the fucking abysmal Pacers who would not make the playoffs
  3. An 18 point loss to the below .500 Portland Trailblazers (Bird shot like shit)
  4. A 9 point loss to the Knicks who would be 23-59
  5. A 6 point loss to the Sixers (who were really good) thanks to a Mo Cheeks masterclass
  6. 8 point loss to the Bulls (30-52) Larry had 12 points
  7. 10 point loss to the Cavs (29-53)
  8. A 4 point loss to the Pistons who would only finish with 46 wins and lose in the first round
  9. A 5 point loss to the sub .500 Kings immediately following the all star break
  10. 7 point loss to the 32 win Suns
  11. 2 point loss to the 47 win Nuggets who would lose in 6 to the Rockets in the second round
  12. 2 point loss to the 39 win bullets
  13. 1 point loss to the 44 win mavs who would lose in the second round to the lakers
  14. 1 point loss to the 76ers again
  15. 10 point loss to the Nets again somehow

Thats 10 losses against bad teams and 5 losses against playoff teams.

My point in sharing this is that losses are ok. Guys playing poorly even for long stretches at a time is normal. For your own mental health and happiness don’t let every loss define you. Criticism is fine, but the season is really long and these guys have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Literally one loss by two points. People are already bringing out the tired narratives of laziness and terrible effort. GTFO
