The eagles have had tremendous success in the Hurts / Siri era. But after all -this is Philly- so I’d like to point out an incredible flaw in these good times.

It surprises me that Sirianni is hardly criticized for his inability to call the plays. Steichen was a great OC and I commend Nick for handing the role off as it was beneficial for the team at the time. But Steichen being good at calling plays just blanketed this flaw.

Now, we’re sitting here 9-1, yes. And although that’s a record we’d all gladly accept. It’s hiding this flaw again of a nondefensive HC also unable to call plays offensively. This whole Brian Johnson struggle would’ve been avoided. And we will continue to go through these “growth periods” frequently as a successful OC would get hired elsewhere and unsuccessful OC would be fired - if Nick cannot assume this responsibility as a HC. It’s on him

Think of it like this. Yes, a weakness of Sirianni is he isn’t a great play caller, and this did lead to an issue with Steichen leaving. However say we found a head coach who was a great play caller, but it turns out he’s bad at running the program, sustaining excellence, and coaching his coaches. We’d end up being mediocre. All this to say don’t let this one issue take away from the fact that in basically every single other aspect of coaching he excels. And though he hasn’t been a good play caller, it’s still his offensive system and philosophy.

We definitely need to improve though, our play sequencing has been very poor this year. feels like we are just running plays with no rhyme or reason or set up.
