Hi all,

Just received my Steam Deck OLED just an hour ago & super excited to game on this. However, during the setup process, when I was using the D-Pad to navigate the menus, when I was pressing the down direction on the D-Pad, I heard a light clacking noise that doesn’t exist on the other directions. When I pressed it more to test it, I noticed that the D-Pad seems to float within its housing cut out and I’m not sure if this is normal for the D-Pad on the OLED model.

When I nudged the D-Pad around, I noticed that it floats around and when the D-Pad itself is floating closer to the upper portion of the cutout, when I press the Down direction, I no longer hear the light clacking noise.

Was wondering if any of this is normal, I’m hoping that I don’t need to RMA this but if it isn’t normal, then I guess I might have to *sigh*.

Attached is a video of me moving the arrow around and it didn’t actually take much effort to move it, more effort to try to film it than to move the arrows. Sorry for the rotated video, I guess my phone thought I wanted a landscape shot for some reason?

Thanks!

It definitely was a bit floaty on the original. Dont know about the new one. Personally I wouldn’t rma it if under normal gaming cases the suspicious clicking sound doesnt occur.
