I am aware that NBA officiating has been a story (or more accurately, several stories) for some time.
That said, aside from all of the other stories, I just see … more lopsided officiating that goes against us. The “open season on Jaylen Brown” in Charlotte was utterly bizarre.
I am usually against whining about officials; I am a former college ref and think that NBA refs are very talented, and the only ‘bias’ they have is simply ratings. So, I don’t like the whole paranoia thing … but it’s beginning to make me wonder. What I see:
-
avg FT’s/game for “the Jays” among lowest in league for the number of drives to the hoop
-
KP leading league in techs (I find this ridiculous, as a former ref I can spot an asshole player a mile away and he’s not)
-
A couple of inexplicable reviews and/or judgement fouls (e.g., take fouls)
How did we get here? What has to happen going forward? Am I wrong?
I feel like this is beginning to impact games (like forcing us to play our top 6 too much to make up for lopsided officiating, which could lead to fatigue or worse, injuries).
I don’t know about you guys but I tune in to each game to see who can blow the best whistle. I judge the tone and duration as well as frequency and breathing technique. I really don’t understand why these other randos on the floor are always yelling at them and interrupting their performance. Just rude shit man, LET THEM COOK!
Pops would never stand for that shit, he’d grab the PA mic and chastise those randos for their complete lack of class. Imagine interrupting the flow of a professional entertainer so frequently because you’re an “NBA superstar” or whatever. Sheesh.
