I apologize for not understanding this part of the 11/19/23 Vikings/Broncos football game, but I can’t figure out the answers online, and I’d really like to know. I realize that some of the answer might be just guesses, but I’d like to know what is probably the truth.
First, what exactly was the Jackson supposed to do (instead of hitting Dobbs with his helmet)? Just knowing that will help me understand a lot.

Did Jackson’s coach (probably) instruct Jackson to do that (perhaps as a tactical move…like, calculating that any punishment would probably be worth the result? In other words, was the Bronco’s coach probably playing dirty?)
-
If Jackson WASN’T instructed to do that illegal move, why did he do it (like, perhaps was Jackson just being too aggressive, and he miscalculated?) Thank you!!! :-)
It’s just a veteran player that can’t follow the current rules. It has to be very hard to change the way you do something after doing it that way your whole career. Then your instincts take over and you are now making an illegal hit.
Just think about trying to write with your other hand and expecting it to be just as clear as how you have written your whole life.
I wouldn’t be opposed to teams being able to review these hits during the game. Nobody would care if a game lasted 10-20 minutes longer. We all want the play to not be blown
