My guess is the game is already extremely soft and blurry looking even at native which is a deliberate artistic choice, so the blurriness of lower input resolution doesn’t have as much of an impact.
RDR2 also has a deliberately very soft image that it achieves via the most insanely aggressive TAA i’ve ever seen, and it does make the game look really nice when it’s not smearing textures or leaving ghost trails behind moving objects.
