I was hoping to get into Dota’s pro scene this year as my interest for the game grew recently.

But now, I learn that Valve has cancelled the DPC (regional leagues) and hasn’t announced any replacements to it, or of major tournaments.

I feel like Valve just isn’t able to compete with Riot on the E-Sports scene, but now I worry about the future of the professional scene as a whole.

Anyone has any ideas, opinions, on the matter? Do you think it was a good idea to cancel the DPC?

for excitement and combating bad actors/matchfixers, arguably yes

for stability, player development, and competitive integrity: hell no.
