As a very casual fighting game player (in fact this will be my first fighting game in my Steam collection) which of these is best for Steam Deck?

Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat 11

Both are on sale for around $5. The older one, X, is Steam Deck Verified while 11 is rated Unsupported but people say it runs fine with Proton GE (though what I read saying that was over a year old). So basically, I want to know which is going to give the best casual experience on Steam Deck?

I have a nice RTX 3080 desktop too, but I imagine this would be something I would only be interested in playing on my Deck.

FWIW, my current thoughts are to go with X, the oldest, because it’s officially Steam Deck Verified.

Thanks, I read a couple of other people said the same but I’m not clear on what they like better about it. Do you have any particular things you like better about it?

I haven’t had them side by side, but each new iteration adds more … shall we say … nonsense? Gets bigger, more bloated, more microtransactiony. They are really mostly the same game engine (the way they feel any way) - the real question is; which campaign story do you like better, what exclusive DLC characters do you like more?

I liked the story in 11 a lot (beats the hell out of the new one).

      MK X is 43.66GB.

MK 11 over double that - clocking in at over 100GB. The size along makes me more hesitant to keep around.

If MK is anything like COD? The older the game - the less multiplayer players are available (if you’re into the online component). :(

        Ok thanks.

I hadn’t considered the install size. 100GB is huge for a game that’s not one of my main games. But finding online matches is important to me. I think I’m going to go with 11. :-P
