In Q3 with 11:54 left, the Seahawks, on 4th and 11, drew a delay-of-game penalty. The refs said that the penalty was declined, and the Seahawks punted. Is that what really happened? Why would would the 49ers decline the delay-of-game penalty? The 49ers then were backed up on the ensuing possession (which ultimately led to the pick-6).
I’m curious about the clock. After the penalty the clock continues to run. This used to be a tactic for teams to run off extra clock.
So they made a rule where the clock stops after the first delay. But that didn’t happen here. Does this only apply in the 4th quarter?
