I’m genuinely curious. Yes I know he’s been extremely good at the niche he plays in the run blocking game. But we are clearly not a a great running team, and if you that concerned about the run game why not just invest that money into a better rb or better yet spend it on d line.
I’m just thinking that we would have much more freedom at the deadline if we had more cap seeing we have to pay jj and darrisaw in the future. It also hurts to see Z Darius and Dt go and play well in the number 1 defense
Not sure why people are getting upset, the run game is still bad even though Oliver himself is a great run blocker and TJ is the highest paid TE as well so it wasn’t exactly a need.
The question is whether the Oliver signing directly affected them letting Tomlinson walk, which I don’t think it did. I think they believed in Phillips and their other guys and Tomlinson had dealt with injuries. They should have addressed it in the offseason, but maybe they do this week
