I’ve been in the watch world for well over a decade. Collecting, buying, selling, and nerding out the whole way through.
We’ve all said it before, but I think I’ve finally reached a simple but satisfying point in the hobby. I’ve narrowed down my rotation to just two watches that I truly enjoy wearing.
For years my go-to daily has been the midsize Omega SMP 300M. I can put it through the wringer with little consequence. I can wear it with a suit, a bathing suit, hell, my birthday suit too. It’s been with me for some of the most significant moments in my life. If I had to whittle down my collection to just one, this would be it.
When I need to dress it up, I’ll grab my new medium-thin Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. It’s a classic, an icon, and has an elegance that really stands out on special occasions. I thought long and hard before buying it because the recent price hike was just eye-watering. But I found a deal on one during a recent overseas trip and I took the plunge.
I still have a watchbox full of pricey kit that I should sell off. But in the meantime, the SMP and Reverso have become my favorites. Now my question is: how do I know if this is truly the end of the road? How do I keep the itch at bay? 😂
Rolex, Tudor, Longines, GS, too many Seikos to count, etc etc.
