I am in India, where the local prices of the decks is currently 450 USD for the 64GB LCD, 510 USD for the 256GB LCD, and 720 USD for the 512GB OLED models

The ROG Ally (which has a local presence in India) is about 780 USD, though I’m not really interested in it because of battery and low wattage performance.

So with those prices in mind, what do you guys think about the value of the 64gb model if I don’t mind just throwing in an SD card anyways? I know there are a ton of improvements outside the screen that come with the OLED model… but it is a big price difference.

is the screen on the LCD really that bad even if I use whatever software tweaks like DeckHD?

thank you all for your time!

I upgraded to the limited edition version thinking the mid gen update would be as big as the difference between the first gen and the Oled version of the switch, (huge difference on screen and battery)

I had a lot of play time on the led model the 2 days before my Oled model came, I realized I am having pretty equal levels of fun playing both machines,

the screen upgrade was huge, but wasn’t worth it to justify me paying an extra $300-400 upgrade, I wouldn’t go about anywhere near above 60fps in 70% of my library of either deck, so the 90hz I only see when browsing my libraries (ignore this if you you play mostly indies)

the extra ~30-45 mins when playing triples AAA are nice, but a most people play by an outlet,

I would honestly say just go for the 64gb lcd screen, and upgrade with a good 1tb or 512 2230 ssd

I do love the new wifi updates, although I haven’t had a chance to really use the new Bluetooth radio that much, the wifi 6 upgrade I enjoy because it makes streaming games a lot more better

thanks! my main use is going to be playing handheld, not docked, and its going to be with a lot of various games! though I guess most of it is indies and retro emulators. i will have some modern games that I would like to run on it such as Divinity Original Sin 2, or Forza horizon 4, Kingdom Come Deliverance, but mostly other than that it wont be for AAA stuff. which is why the battery likely impacts me more lol

do you have comparison photos between the LCD and OLED screen? or, from what you have looked online, (since you have more experience) what videos do you think represent the comparison accurately?
