In the last few weeks I noticed a lot of content creators and community posts throwing hate at Mercy. Identifying her as a problem in multitude of ways. Particularly, damage boosting comes up a lot. Giving Widow her old range back, etc.
But, personally, I find one support or better said ability more tilting: Suzu.
And while Mercy has to have a very competent DPS on the team to get proper value from damage boost. That also means that the enemy team is investing 40% of their resources to secure the kills.
While Suzu can easily negate anything and everything no matter how many resources you pour into securing your win. Specifically, when you coordinate and combine ultimates. Especially then it feels more than unfair when a basic ability can neutralize those efforts.
I admit that these days, I play Sombra most often not for damage or kills. Because let’s be honest, Sombra is not the best pick for any of that. But, she’s really good keeping Suzu on cooldown. Which, I admit, won me some games we would’ve lost most likely otherwise.
And while LW’s pull is another “get out of jail free” ability, at least that applies to one single target. While Suzu not only cleanses, but also grants immunity to any CC or damage for a short period of time while simultaneously provides minor healing.
And, while cleanse is annoying when you use an Ult (Sombra or Illiari). The most tilting part for me is the immunity to damage. I simply can’t make sense in how that is OK
suzu is the support counterplay. Do you really want supports to just, not have powerful abilities?
You can argue up and down about the balance of support, but removing their ability to have a meaningful impact on the game outside of simply healbotting is NOT the way to balance the game.
