Watching this UNC-NC State Game. Senior NC State LB, #11 Payton Wilson is straight killing the Tarheels, specifically their quarterback. 61 solo tackles, 5 sacks, 2 interceptions in 2023. He has 388 total tackles in his college career (2019-2023) coming into tonight.
Any thoughts on the Cowboys going after this guy to replace Vander Esch?
I get it, we don’t want another Bobby Carpenter. He can stop the run, he can cover, and he gets in the backfield, but it’s the intangibles that were radiating off of this guy. You pick him up, and you have your next Sean Lee (hopefully minus the injury ridden career, but that’s a lot to ask from an LB in the modern NFL).
He’s a pretty kinetic player. Seeing him and Micah flying around out there would be the best shit ever.
No thank you to non-value first round positions. The next 1st has to be a QB, WR, OT, CB, or EDGE. You can make legit cases for each of these positions as well. If the BPA isn’t at one of those positions or isn’t considered a generational type like Brock Bowers who falls to the 20s, then trade down.
And also, no more Dan Quinn pet projects in the draft while we’re at it
