So I have an extremely important remotely proctored exam coming up in January. Macbook has been having issues with Kernel Panics, restarting not all the time but when I step away from the computer it has the folder question mark icon as well.

Reinstalled the OS, and ran in safe mode, apple diagnostics shows no hardware error. Cleaned my mac and removed any oudated files etc.

The quote i got for the battery replacement is almost $400 CAD. New MacBook Air would obviously be higher but i’m wondering what to do here, if its worth buying a new laptop or not.
