I just got a new ROG Zephyrus as an upgrade to my old MSI GE 63 Raider, and I think I’d like to upgrade it a bit more. The machine has an extra RAM and SSD slot, so I thought I would add another 16 GB of RAM and the 512 GB SSD from my previous machine, bringing it up to 32 GB of memory and 1.5 TB storage. I’ve taken laptops apart in the past, but I can’t say I enjoyed it, and when I took the back off of my MSI to put in a new SSD (the original one failed after about 4 years), it left a few visible marks around the outside of the case where it no longer lines up cleanly with the top, even though I got all of the screws back in. I’m not sure if the Zephyrus is easier or harder to disassemble though, and I’m hoping someone can give me some insight on that.

My question is, would you recommend that I do the installation myself or take it to a professional to keep it in as good a condition as possible? I looked at Micro Center’s prices, and they charge $20 for the RAM install and $100 for the SSD install, which seems a little steep. Is there somewhere else that might do both for cheaper, or should I just do it myself? Thanks!

The ram is super easy. Youtube likely has the same model being opened up.

SSD not that hard, but I have not done that specifically.
