I’ll say it again. Mistake after mistake and we still have a chance to win. Same thing; different week.
I’m not going to shit on Dobbs; it would have been easy to stop trying to throw the ball and lose confidence with how things were going.
And Mattison. Don’t love the guy, but he looked pretty good.
Big shout to the defense for giving the O chance after chance.
But to get the ball back after a HUGE turnover then run with Mattison twice and leave the offense with a third and long? That just can’t happen. It just can’t. You have to go for the kill.
I get that Mattison was the bright spot this game, but the Bears know we want to run, and Mattison is going to put his head down and… you know, be Mattison. Running the ball twice after that amazing turnover was asking the Bears to make a mistake.
KOC had a chance to pounce. The only drive where we looked dangerous was when we opened up and started to hunt passes (not screens; not check downs). It gave us a chance and led to our only TD. And when we needed that same aggressiveness to win the game, it was nowhere to be found.
Look, if KOC doesn’t trust Dobbs and wants to play conservatively, I get it — but it leaves us NO room for error. A 12+ play drive calculated march down the field is hard! We need to keep trying to rip off big chunks (even our misses were near makes). Meticulous, mistake-free football is not possible with Dobbs; we need to play looser. Give him a chance to win his way.
All these mistakes and we still had a chance to win. Mattison. Mattison. 3-and-long. Game. This one is a damn shame and it’s on KOC. You have to give this team a chance.
Instead of turning the Bears into prey, KOC just prayed – and for the second week in a row: No answer.
The jury is still very much out on koc. He draws up some nice plays but his game management has been seriously suspect. Starting to not feel like a coincidence that this team has played in 20+ one score games the last two seasons.
Interesting point. Were all the close games (both last and this year) happenstance due to the weird way KOC likes to hang onto <7 point leads?
I’m kinda thinking yes. Lost a lot of confidence in him. Being gutless allows brave men to walk over to.
KOC got walked over tonight and didnt use his play calling to show he had any mettle.
