I’m not trying to slander Josh here, he is still an amazing quarterback, top 3 in the league at any given time, I’m not disputing that. However, there is no denying how concerning his performance in overtime is. 0-6 is very bad. There’s an extent to which you can blame this horrible record on coaching, on Sean McDermott’s soft defense, fine, but there’s still a big part of this that is caused by his inability to execute on important drives in OT. How many times have we won the coin toss, or otherwise had the ball in OT, and only needed Josh to throw or run in a touchdown to win the game, but he just couldnt do it for whatever reason? I can think of four overtime games where Josh’s inability to make a play cost us the game. The bucs game in 21, the Minnesota game last year, the jets game earlier this year, and now this game. All he needed to do was get a touchdown, and the game would be over, but he couldn’t. This eagles game is a prime example. How is Sean mcdermotts defense allowing Jalen hurts to score the problem, when your elite quarterback just had the ball, marched down the field and had the game in the palm of his hands, but couldn’t make a damn play? When you view it that way, the loss is totally his fault. Obviously there’s a lot that contributed to it, but come on man! You could have won the game right there! It just has happened way too often for me to not be concerned about it. Yeah Mayne Gabe ran the wrong route, but you can’t entirely put the blame on him. Josh still just needs to get it done. This is why I can’t help but agreeing with people who say he isn’t clutch. He really costs us in these moments, and they’re all too common unfortunately. I just want to know why and if there’s anything that can possibly change it.

I think the real question should be: why can’t McDermott win in overtime?

McDermott is 1-6 in OT, Allen is 0-6. Not much different, yet all week all I’ve been hearing about is Allen’s OT record.

I feel McDermott’s OT record is far worse, despite having the 1 win, because McDermott has been handed a winning score in several of his OT losses and couldn’t hang onto those leads, which is by no means Allen’s fault.
